Ich Liebe Wien!
Vienna is such a dream.
My first day here I met a group of friends from England who I spent all of my time with. It was refreshing to be a part of a group for a few days. Although I do have to say I am excited to be back to doing my own thing again. Creating itineraries with six total people isn’t always super easy…
One of the highlights for sure was discovering a micronation. Yes, you read that correctly.
So we were walking along a path near Prater(an amusement park by the Danube) When all of a sudden we saw this big wooden sphere. There were steps that led to a door along with lights draped down the side. Naturally, my curious-self had to go check it out. And let me tell you. It was the coolest little place. There was a counter selling pay-what-you-like drinks then up a flight of stairs there was a hangout space with tables and games.
Anyway, we hung out up there for a while and ended up talking to some locals who mentioned it was recognized as its own micronation by Austria. Whether or not it is true, I would like to believe it. Now I can add Kugelmugel to my list of countries I have been to.
Sadly I did not get to see an opera or a ballet or anything. I should have planned in advance. But I did get to hear some beautiful music on the streets.
Tomorrow morning I am parting ways with Vienna. I will be going to Venice so I’ll let you know how that goes!
Fun fact: The Danube is green.
PS. Check out my friend Matteo’s experience in Vienna and Prague!
