It’s finally December!
I am super, duper ready for this month and I hope you are too! For me, December is such a magically beautiful time. We’re giving to others, spending more time together, and generally, there’s just more focus on appreciating all that we have.
And as if it couldn’t get any better… oh it does! The best part about December is even when it ends the fun doesn’t. January 1st rolls around and we are welcomed into the new year with cheers and laughter.
There is just something so human about the excitement surrounding new beginnings. New Year’s is no exception. *Cue Gabriella and Troy singing “The Start of Something New”*
In the past, some people close to me (including myself!) have been pretty cynical about the holidays and New Year’s. You know, people forget their resolutions, everything is overcommercialized and superficial, why don’t we just celebrate each other and gift giving all the time, blah, blah, blah.
Then there’s the fact that it’s simply overwhelming!
I realize it’s okay to hate the holidays, some people have great reasons. But why not at least try to enjoy it all? I say we smile at the nay-sayers, wish them well and, go about our gift giving and holiday cheer. Don’t you think?
I don’t know if I’ll get people the right gifts. I don’t know if I’ll get things I don’t want or need. I don’t know if I’ll make – or keep – a New Year’s Resolution. It doesn’t really matter.
What does matter is the now. It matters that there’s so much joy in my heart – I hope you’re ready with your cup because there’s plenty spilling over.
So I wish you luck with your shopping and cooking and traveling and goal setting and parties and countdowns and craziness! Maybe you’ll need it, maybe you won’t.
